Van Gelder groente & fruit

Project

Challenge in BIM

A production and distribution center for fruit and vegetables, a greenhouse, offices and an experience center. All these functions must be organized together in one building that is a business card for fruit and vegetable cultivation as well as for the state-of-the-art robotized 'order and picking' technique with which Van Gelder organizes and optimizes its production process. This requires an integrally coordinated design in which BIM control is actually indispensable. For Wijnen Bouw, Bim&Beyond not only worked out the plan ready for implementation, but also took care of the BIM coordination and managed all parties from the BIM model for this complex project.

Van Gelder's new premises are a showcase in more ways than one. Firstly, it shows how such processes can be carried out in an extremely sustainable manner. More than 95% of all materials in the building are certified and it scores the maximum BREEAM score on MAT 5 with an extremely sustainable circular choice of materials. The design has also been nominated for the International BREEAM Awards, making it one of the 6 best BREEAM designs in the world in 2018. In addition to housing a super efficient production process, the building is fully equipped to showcase the innovations of this process.
