The renovation of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences' Museumpark Hoogbouw is a strategic upgrade of an iconic post-war building. The project focuses on improving the architectural quality, further developing the design and increasing sustainability and circularity.

For the new façade concept, TomDavid Architects investigated which elements of the original design should be retained and how these could be integrated into the renovated high-rise, the monumental low-rise and the pavilion. Where possible, materials such as natural stone, glass and aluminium window frames will be reused. In addition, an ecological working protocol has been drawn up for the protection of birds and bats.
Construction will commence in Q4 2025.

Bim&Beyond modelled the entire existing building, thereby laying a solid foundation for both the new design and the demolition and preparatory work. This model forms the starting point for the DO phase, during which the integration of the architectural BIM models with other disciplines and suppliers is also prepared, so that the collaboration can continue smoothly towards TO/UO. This involves the technical design of the high-rise façade, the lift core, the restaurant, the pavilion and the curtain wall on the ground floor.
