In the heart of The Hague, on the corner of Houtweg and Koninginnegracht, BNG Bank's iconic office building is undergoing a thorough transformation. The existing building from 1980 will not be demolished, but carefully transformed into a contemporary, energy-efficient and healthy office. By doing so, BNG Bank not only opts for the preservation of value and cultural history, but also for a sustainable future. The renovated building meets the requirements of today and tomorrow: energy-neutral, nature-inclusive and with maximum attention to the welfare of the users.
Kraaijvanger Architects designed a clear and open building concept that does justice to the bank's identity. The robust concrete structure is retained, but the building is given a light, transparent appearance with plenty of room for daylight, greenery and encounters.
Bim&Beyond is responsible for the execution-ready design (UO) of the project, commissioned by Du Prie Bouw & Ontwikkeling B.V. In close cooperation with Kraaijvanger Architects, we translated the design into a complete and construction-ready model. In doing so, we ensured an optimal balance between aesthetics, functionality and manufacturability.
Our BIM expertise enabled the team to integrate complex components at an early stage and model them clash-free. Think of smart detailing of the new transparent façade, technical solutions for reusing existing building parts and incorporating sustainable installations in the existing structure.
Our contribution ensures that the ambitious design also comes into its own in practice. Sustainable, feasible and future-proof.
